HIGH POINT, NC — Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. filed a lawsuit last month against International Home Furnishings Center President and CEO Tom Mitchell for damages and breach of contract, according to Home Furnishings Business.
According to the story, Mitchell had run Chicago-based Merchandise Mart's High Point showroom before becoming head of the Home Furnishings Center last year. The lawsuit, which was filed in Guilford County Superior Court, alleges Mitchell broke his Merchandise Mart contract by attempting to bring Merchandise Mart tenants to the Home Furnishings Center within a year of leaving the company.
