Masisa Evaluates Building Particleboard Mill in Brazil

SANTIAGO, CHILE – Masisa is evaluating the possibility of building its third plant in Brazil. It would be the company’s first Brazilian particleboard plant.

Enrique Cibi, Masisa’s CEO, said, “Masisa has decided, subject to Bazil approval, to build a particleboard plant, which is a modification to the original MDF project the company was planning to carry out in Brazil that had previously been announced to the market. Supply and demand studies made by Masisa led us to decide on installing a particleboard line instead of the construction of an MDF line that we had been studying for over a year.”

The estimated $119 million project is under review by Masisa’s Board of Directors. The particleboard plant would have a production capacity of 550,000 cubic meters and would create about 200 jobs.
