Man sues baby bed manufacturer over son’s death


A $5 million lawsuit blames a baby
motion bed made by Amby Baby USA
for the death of a 5-month old boy.


GRESHAM, OR –

A man filed a lawsuit Tuesday, Dec. 29, alleging that the bed made by Amby Baby USA of Minneapolis was responsible for the suffocation death of his 5-month-old son in August.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the lawsuit filed by Johnathan Kuzma seeks $5 million.

The death of the Oregon infant and a 4-month-old in Georgia prompted the Dec. 8 recall of about 24,000 Amby Baby Motion Beds. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the side-to-side shifting or tilting of the hammock could cause an infant to roll and become trapped or wedged against the hammock's fabric or mattress pad, posing a suffocation risk to babies.
