Log Splitter Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and American Honda Motor Corp. announced the recall of approximately 5,600 SpeeCo and Huskee brand log splitters. 

The engine’s fuel tank can crack and leak, posing a risk of fire or explosion.  Engine serial numbers between 5547012 and 6880908 are included in the recall. This number is located below the upper shroud near the oil dip-stick. The following models are affected by the recall and are either silver/black or red/black colored.

LS401227TS (22 Ton)

LS401228NO (27 Ton)

SpeeCo Split Masters

LS401228SP (22 Ton)

LS401227NO (22 Ton)

LS401225NO (25 Ton)

These splitters were sold between January 2007 and June 2008 for between $1,150 and $1,500. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact Honda at (800) 426-7701 or at www.hondapowerequipment.com.
