Leggett & Platt uses YouTube to drive mattress sales

CARTHAGE, MO - Furniture and bedding component manufacturer Leggett & Platt shows it is 127-years-young by launching a social media campaign to drive consumer buys of mattresses, for which it makes components.

The YouTube video includes a Betty White-like character explaining that through October 11, visitors to Leggett & Platt's The Virgin Mattress YouTube Channel can compete to win a new mattress made with VertiCoil Edge innersprings, valued at approximately $1,300. VertiCoil Edge, the newest technology in innerspring, is part of the VertiCoil family, which enjoyed the most successful product launch in the history of Leggett & Platt's Bedding Group. To enter the contest, visitors must upload a video response to The Virgin Mattress Contest video, sharing why they deserve a new mattress.

The Virgin Mattress Contest is part of a new social media campaign Leggett & Platt designed to connect with consumers. At the conclusion of the contest, the Leggett & Platt plans to launch a series of comedic webisodes that follows a couple in their quest to fight off an arch nemesis and save the family mattress store from financial ruin.
