CARTHAGE, MO — Leggett & Platt, a maker of furniture components, retail store fixtures and other products, announced Oct. 17 that its third-quarter profit dropped 22% due to weakness in the U.S. home, retail and aluminum markets, according to Forbes.com. For the quarter ended Sep. 30, net income fell to $65.7 million, or 37 cents per share, from $84 million, or 45 cents per share, in the prior-year quarter. Read more.
