JASPER, Ind., April 22 -- Kimball(R) Office is celebrating its 40th anniversary and Earth Day's, with plans to plant more than 1,600 trees across the country. A 40 city initiative, with 40 trees planted in each community, is tied to the company's "Trees for Tomorrow" program, which has laid roots for a greener tomorrow by planting more than 362,000 trees.
"Originally founded as a wood products manufacturer, Kimball Office has always been connected to the environment. From day one, we began applying and encouraging sustainable business practices; it's fitting that we're sharing our 40th anniversary with Earth Day's 40th," said Jeff Fenwick, vice president and general manager at Kimball Office. "40 years ago we set out to develop the most environmentally responsible, quality office furniture. And still today, we strive to find new ways to reduce our carbon footprint."
In conjunction with Earth Day, Kimball Office field sales representatives, showrooms and select dealers will plant trees from California to Massachusetts.
"Our employees and partners throughout the country look forward to servicing their communities in honor of the environment," said Fenwick. "From the renewable materials used in our products, to the corporate recycling center we share with our parent company, Kimball Office is a well rounded corporate partner and citizen."
With four successful decades under the company's belt, Kimball Office maintains its commitment of designing and manufacturing environmentally friendly office furniture, and advocacy for responsible forestry management.
Kimball Office's business practices have earned the company numerous awards and global industry recognition, including having 98 percent of its products Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association (BIFMA) level(TM) certified. Additionally, seven of the company's facilities are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED(R)) certified.
