LANCASTER, PA — Keystone Wood Specialties, a manufacturer of custom cabinet doors, dovetailed drawer boxes, mouldings and other custom components, was one of 10 Pennsylvania employers honored with this year’s 2009 Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence, which was presented on October 19 during the 83rd Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Conference at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA.

“We believe that workplace safety makes a major difference in a successful company,” said Safety/Compliance Coordinator Dave Landis. “It is more than worth the required time and resources. It pays incalculable dividends.”

Applicants for the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence must meet rigorous standards of achievement. The award recognizes successful employer-employee safety programs that produce tangible safety improvements.

“Winners of the Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence are dedicated to high standards in workplace safety and employee wellness,” said Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell. “These companies have implemented safety strategies that reduce on-the-job injuries, increase productivity and sharpen their competitive edge in a global economy. They serve as inspirations for all Pennsylvania workplaces to match their success.”
