BRYAN, TX – Kent Moore Cabinets, a manufacturer of residential and commercial wooden cabinetry, recently received the Texas Environmental Excellence Award.
Kent Moore is one of 12 winners statewide to be recognized with an award, presented by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
In early 2005, Kent Moore completed $6 million in improvements to its finishing operations. Included was a flat-line system using 100 percent water-based finishes that was considered to be the first of its kind in the United States. As a result of implementing the system, Kent Moore reduced VOC emissions from a high of 101 tons in 2003 to less than 13 tons in 2006. In addition, the water-based finish reportedly generates 80 percent less hazardous waste than using the former solvent-based finish.
