GAINESVILLE, GA — Jeld-Wen Inc., a window and door manufacturer, on Aug. 7 announced it will end manufacturing operations at its plant in Gainesville, GA, according to Forbes.com. Company spokeswoman Teri Cline said the change was necessary due to a downturn in the housing industry, and that the facility will be used for a sales and distribution office. 

The company expects to layoff about 40 employees, but Cline said the facility could reopen in the future.
