ISSFA Announces Change in Focus
HENDERSON, NV – The International Solid Surface Fabricators Assn. (ISSFA) Board of Directors has voted unanimously to urge its members to change association articles with a call to embrace all countertop-surfacing options. The purpose of the proposed change in focus is to provide members with access to emerging products and techniques in the countertop industry and to put the focus on the fabricator member.

“When ISSFA was formed 11 years ago most of our members were heavily entrenched in the fabrication of solid surface products,” said ISSFA President, Todd Werstler. “Today, our members’ businesses have evolved to include multiple products, and ISSFA needs to change in order to stay relevant to their wants and needs.”

A goal of the association’s new direction is to bring together fabricators and manufacturers of multiple products to provide training, education and promotion that is consistent with the constantly changing countertop industry.

The proposed change in articles must be ratified by a two-thirds majority of ISSFA members to become effective. The proposed change in direction is member driven and requires members input toward the purposes, member services and benefits, and the direction of the association into the future. The processes will be developed in late October.

Currently, ISSFA officially represents the interests of solid surface and quartz surfacing fabricators. The proposed change in direction urges the adoption of other surfacing materials, such as granite, glass, concrete, recyclables, laminate and other natural and man-made decorative surfacing products.
