IRWIN Launches Locking Tool Story Contest

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — IRWIN Industrial Tools is inviting users of its VISE-GRIP locking pliers or wrenches to share stories about how the tools have helped get them out of pickles – both at home and in the workplace. The top story takes home a custom-branded chopper valued at $25,000 built by East Coast Custom Cycles, according to a release.

From July 1 through Oct. 31, consumers can enter their vise-grip stories here, according to a release. Entries will be judged between Nov. 1 and Nov. 15 to identify the top 50 stories. Story entries will be selected based on creativity, originality and how the story fits with the product theme.

Visitors can then log-in between Nov. 16 and Dec. 19 to vote and help select the winner, who will be announced by February 2009.

IRWIN said it has received hundreds of unsolicited stories over the years from a range of customers about unique users for VICE-GRIP products. Stories have ranged from makeshift nut-crackers and portable camera stands to temporary gear levers for dirt bikes and door handles.
