HPVA Develops New KCMA Certification Program

RESTON, VA – The Hardwood Plywood & Veneer Assn. announced the establishment of a voluntary program to certify domestically produced hardwood plywood to meet the emission requirement of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer Assn.’s new Environmental Stewardship Program.

The HPVA’s program includes testing services to certify that hardwood plywood complies with the HP-1 0.3 ppm emission requirement contained in the KCMA’s ESP program. The certification stamps for this program can only be used by domestically produced hardwood plywood with domestic or imported faces and cores. The program is not designed to certify imported industrial panels at this time.

The KCMA formally launched its ESP program at the 2006 International Woodworking Fair.  More than 14 plants have been certified so far, with more applications pending.
