Housing Slump Postpones Major Nevada Development

HAWTHORNE, NV — The Las Vegas Sun reports that the slumping housing market has caused developers to indefinitely postpone a major industrial, commercial and residential project in Hawthorne, NV. Groundbreaking for the $175 million project pursued by Peninsula Floors Inc. of Livermore, CA., a flooring contractor firm, had been scheduled to begin in January 2008. Plans had called for the construction of warehouses, manufacturing plants, a hotel-casino, a shopping complex and up to 2,000 houses.
