MUSCATINE, IA – HNI Corp. announced that it will close its Richmond, VA, manufacturing plant during the first half of 2008 and consolidate production to its Cedartown, GA, and Muscatine, IA, facilities. The company said it is taking these steps to reduce structural cost and streamline customer fulfillment at The HON Co., a subsidiary of HNI. Part of the consolidation includes The HON Co.’s transition of distribution centers located in Richmond and Cedartown to a third-party logistics provider. 

HNI estimates the realignment will save in excess of $10 million annually, once fully implemented in 2009. The closing will impact approximately 370 workers in Richmond. Read more.
