Haworth to Cut 350 Jobs
HOLLAND, MI – Haworth said it would close its Allegan seating factory in mid-2009, and seek voluntary job reductions at its plants in Holland and Douglas, according to WZZM13.com. In a statement, the company said the goal was to “reduce Haworth’s production ranks by 350 full-time members in our West Michigan facilities.”

Company CEO Franco Bianchi cited “the unprecedented economic turmoil that has assailed our nation’s and the world’s economy” as the reason for the job cuts.

Haworth said employees affected would be offered an “enhanced severance package” that is nearly triple what is typically offered to hourly members, while providing medical and vacation benefits and outplacement services for 2009.
