PITTSBURGH – Hardwood trade groups say they are nearing launch of a promotion hardwood as a brand, through the United Hardwood Brand, an ad hoc organization for in 2009. The group hired New York-based Gibbs and Soell. with the goal of developing a brand identity for use by all hardwood industry sectors modeled on programs such as the dairy industry's “Got Milk” promotion>>
Behind the effort are the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc., Hardwood Distributors Association, Hardwood Manufacturers Association, Hardwood Council, Hardwood Plywood & Veneer Association, National Hardwood Lumber Association, National Wood Flooring Association, Penn York Lumberman’s Club and Wood Component Manufacturers Association. American Hardwood Export Council will also help disseminate the new message throughout export markets. The Hardwood Federation provided administrative functions for the UHP.
