Grizzly recalls bandsaws dues to shock hazard

WASHINGTON – Grizzly Industrial of Bellingham, WA, issued a voluntary recall of approximately 500 model GO640X 17-inch metal/wood bandsaws with an inverter motor.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, some of the recalled bandsaws do not have a grounding wire installed, which poses an electric shock hazard.

The bandsaws, made in Taiwan, were sold at Grizzly’s showrooms, catalog and Web site and amazon.com from February 2008 through July 2009 for about $1,600.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled bandsaws until the repair kit is installed. The firm is sending repair kits directly to consumers.
