Georgia-Pacific Cuts 315 Jobs at Plywood Plant

ATLANTA – Georgia-Pacific’s plywood plant in Monticello will continue the curtailment of operations indefinitely, according to The Monticello News. The approximately 315 employees of the plant will receive regular paychecks and benefits for 60 days, however, it is not known if they will be returning to work.

“Based on continued poor market conditions, the difficult decision has now been made to continue the curtailment indefinitely,” said Plant Manger Michael Golden.

Most employees of that plant have been out of work for six months. Company paid benefits will terminate on Aug. 31, and at that time employees will be eligible for COBRA coverage. Read more.
