Geiger buys Cox furniture plantHILDEBRAN, NC —

Business furnishings manufacturer Geiger International, which announced plans last week to expand manufacturing operations in North Carolina, confirmed it is acquiring a  97,000-square-foot former Cox Manufacturing plant.
in Hildebrand, NC, located just West of Geiger International's Hickory, NC plant.

Geiger International, a unit of Herman Miller, said it would invest $3.7 million over three years to update and equip the plant. Production from Geiger's Hickory, NC, plant will be moved to the updated, larger facility. Geiger said it plans to add 40 employees to the 24 currently employed at the Hickory operation.

In addition, operations from Geiger International's 60,000 square foot Lake Hills, WI, furniture plant will be moved to Hildebran, with the Lake Hills plant slated for closure in September

A spokesperson for the State of North Carolina development office said Cox Manufacturing will consolidate operations from the furniture plant it is vacating into another facility it operates in Hildebran. Cox Manufacturing plant (shown) is a pre-engineered metal building housing a finishing area for wood frames as well computerized cutting for upholstery production.
