Gallant Buys Millbrook Custom Cabinetry, Recalls Workers

NASSAU , NY — After buying the company he has been president of for the last seven years, Michael Gallant said he will bring back several of the workers that Millbrook Custom Cabinetry, kitchen and bath cabinet manufacturer, laid off when sales slowed, according to The Business Review.

Gallant bought the firm in early December from Joseph E. Hochberg, who started Millbrook Millwork Inc. and Millbrook Kitchens Inc. in 1959. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In one of his first acts, Gallant is bringing back eight to 10 of the 40 employees who were laid off in 2008 when sales of the company’s high-end custom cabinets slowed. They will return to work Jan. 5. Gallant is also talking to people who want to invest in marketing to raise the company’s profile.
