Furniture Brands Q2 Profits Fall

ST. LOUIS – Furniture Brands Int’l. announced net sales of $535.2 million for the second quarter, which is down 11% from $601.3 million during the second quarter of 2006. According to Prime Newswire, net earnings for the quarter were $5.8 million, down from $17 million in the same period last year. Financial results for the second quarters of 2007 and 2006 include several special items and restructuring charges. Net sales for the first half of 2007 were $1,109.0 million, which is 12.2% lower than the net sales of $1,262.7 million for the first half of 2006.
