CHARLESTON, SC - Families of eight firefighters killed battling a South Carolina furniture store fire three years ago have settled with another group of lawsuit defendants for more than $1.2 million.

The June 18, 2007, fire at the Sofa Super Store killed nine firefighters. According to the Associated Press, the families of eight of the Charleston firemen sued for wrongful death. Thirty defendants were named including the furniture store and several furniture makers.

Among the furniture companies that reportedly settled were Best Chairs Inc., Robinson Furniture, Overnight Sofa Corp., Pembrook Chair Corp., Hughes Furniture Industries Inc. and Motion-Eaze Recliners for nearly $600,000 combined.
