BIELEFELD, GERMANY – The 20 member companies of the European Producers of Laminate Flooring combined to ship 468 million square meters of laminate flooring manufactured in Europe during 2006. This represents a 0.7% increase over 2005; the EPLF estimates that its members have a 60% worldwide market share.
Sixty-one percent of the total output was shipped within Western Europe followed by 19% to Eastern Europe. While shipments grew 4% and 7% in Western Europe and Eastern Europe respectively, they dropped about 20% to 68 million square meters to North America. This decline largely reflects the investment by EPLF member companies to construct manufacturing plants in North America.
