SAN DIEGO, CA, - enXco has purchased a pair of wood Pinelands Biomass Project energy plants that are under construction from Southeast Renewable Energy LLC (SRE).
EnXco, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, assumes control of the plants described as "nominal 17l.8 MW generating facilities" in Allendale and Dorchester Counties, SC. Both facilities are expected to be up and running by the end of 2013.
Factory Sales Engineering (FSC) supplied each of the projects with the stoker boiler. General Electic (GE) is the supplier of the steam turbine generator.
"Utilizing wood waste to generate electricity is a proven renewable technology that complements enXco's robust portfolio of wind, solar and biogas projects in North America," said Tristan Grimbert, president and CEO of enXco. "Biomass is poised to be a key renewable base load energy resource for South Carolina."
