MONTREAL – Dorel Industries Inc. announced that Ameriwood Industries, its ready-to-assemble domestic furniture division, is ramping up its Dowagiac, MI, facility, where operations were suspended in July 2007. A production line is being opened to accommodate the current demand in RTA furniture. It is anticipated that up to 100 manufacturing positions could be created over time as demand dictates.

Sales of RTA furniture were strong during the most recent quarter ended June 30, despite the overall slowdown in the home furnishings retail sector. Demand for domestically produced product has increased, allowing the segment’s North American two main factories to run much more efficiently and necessitating the need for additional capacity at Dowagiac.
