GREENSBORO, NC – More than 70 attendees joined Delmac at its Greensboro facility Nov. 6-7 for the Profit Solutions Seminar on Lean Flow Cabinet Manufacturing. Art Raymond, an industry consultant, gave an overview of how to implement lean manufacturing by recognizing areas of waste and inefficient production methods.
He explained why setting up equipment in a way to eliminate bottlenecks and achieving a smooth work flow will increase production and reduce the amount of floor space required for manufacturing, giving manufacturers the ability to provide a higher quality product at a lower cost. To demonstrate this process, Delmac simulated a lean flow layout.
Tooling expert Ted Ford from Onsrud Cutter presented tooling tips, techniques and discussed challenges unique to nested-Bbsed machining. In addition, Addison Maille of Smith Leonard Accounting discussed tax stimulus legislation and the available provisions for getting the most benefits out of Section 179 and the 50% bonus depreciation write-offs which are set to expire.
