Deer Park Lumber Receives Forest Stewardship Award

MEMPHIS, TN – Deer Park Lumber of Tunkhannock, PA, won the National Harrdwood Lumber Assn.’s 2007 Forest Stewardship Award.

The award was established in 1996 to honor companies that exemplify excellence in forest stewardship. To be considered, a company must be distinguished in five key areas: public education, political involvement, promotion to private forestland owners, land management practices and mill/business activities.

“Deer Park Lumber has met these criteria by exhibiting superior service to the industry and to the environment,” said Dave Redmond, NHLA 2nd vice president, upon presenting the award. “The company has reached thousands of young and old alike through its devotion to sustainable forestry education. Its public outreach efforts alone afford such recognition.”
