GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Stiles Machinery Inc., a supplier of machinery to the woodworking industry, announced that Danville Community College is opening a Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Wood Products Technology.
According to Gerald Sexton, the Instructor/Coordinator at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Wood Products Technology, Danville Community College will be opening its Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Wood Products Technology to support local furniture and wood products manufacturers in the region. This will be a one-of-a-kind program in collaboration with three local high school systems, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center and Virginia Tech Department of Wood Science.
Mr. Sexton states that this is a true 2+2+2 program, offering career opportunities and degrees from the high schools all the way through a four-year university. Danville Community College is a licensed WoodLINKS USA site and is currently developing partnerships with other companies that support the wood industry such as Stiles. The official ribbon cutting will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 9.
