LYONS, OR -- Some 75 firemen, working with employees of Freres Lumber Company, were able to control a smoldering fire at the plant on Saturday, July 30.
The mid-afternoon fire reportedly started in wood storage silos as wood chips entered on conveyor belts, according to the Democrat-Herald..
Freres Lumber specializes in the manufacture of veneer, lumber and plywood. The fourth-generation business was started by the Freres family in 1922.
No injuries were reported and company operations were not expected to be negatively impacted.
