WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning, urging consumers to stopy using "SafetyCraft" brand full-size and portable drop-side cribs manufactured or distributed by Generation 2 Worldwide of Dothan, AL.

CPSC said the cribs contain plastic drop-side hardware that can break. The safety agency said this hardware appears to be identical to Generation 2 Worldwide ChildESIGNS brand drop-side cribs recalled in last February. The agency received reports of three infant suffocation deaths and 20 drop-side related incidents involving recalled models of Generation 2 Worldwide and ChildESIGNS cribs.

Unlike many other crib recalls, in which free repair kits have been made available to consumers, CPSC said parents and caregivers should not attempt to fix the cribs.

Generation 2 Worldwide ceased operations in 2005. The "SafetyCraft" trademark was then purchased by Foundations Children's Products of Medina, OH. CPSC noted that the SafetyCraft cribs manufactured and sold by Foundations Children's Products are not the subject of this Safety Alert.
