CPSC reissues crib recall involving 400 models
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission re-announced a voluntary recall of approximately 400 cribs sold by Lajobi Inc. of Cranbury, NJ, between 2000 and 2001.

The cribs were originally recalled in December 2001.

"This re-issuance is voluntarily being undertaken to both alert consumers who may still have these cribs in their possession and to especially alert thrift stores and other similar second-hand stores that these cribs should not be given away, sold or continued to be used,” the CPSC said in its announcement.

CPSC said it had received a report that a 1-year-old Mississippi girl died in 2003 when she became trapped in the decorative cutout on the headboard of her crib.

Consumers are urged to stop using these cribs immediately and contact LaJobi to receive replacement end panels which eliminate the hazard.

The reissued recall announcement comes on the heels of the recall of 2.1 million Stork Craft drop-side cribs announced on Nov. 23.
