WASHINGTON — The U.S, Consumer Product Safety Commission and Menards have announced a recall of approximately 42,000 MasterForce 3.6V cordless screwdrivers, due to reports of fire and burns.

These screwdrivers are green and gray in color. “MASTERFORCE” is printed on the top of the tool. “LITHIUM TECHNOLOGY” and “241-0717” are printed on the handle. These tools were sold at Menards stores from April 2007 through May 2008 for about $30.

Consumers are asked to stop using the screwdrivers and to return them to any Menards store for a free replacement. Additional information can be found at www.menards.com or by calling toll-free at (866) 458-2472.
