PORTLAND, OR — Contact Industries, a manufacturer of wood components, mouldings and millwork, announced Mar. 24 that it has received notification from the International Organization for Standardization that the company has passed all assessments and is now ISO 9001:2000 certified.
ISO 9001 is a global recognition system that acknowledges product and service companies who meet and maintain quality management and controls in a variety of areas.
“We have always operated with quality as a first priority and this certification is proof of that commitment,” said Peter McKibbin, vice president, Contact Industries. “As an organization we are proud to also have earned chain-of-custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council for our environmentally-responsible manufacturing processes. Both ISO and FSC certifications help us to gain respect and recognition worldwide for our company’s existing mission.”
To obtain ISO 9001:2000 certification, a company must successfully pass rigorous assessments in four main areas of quality control, with the overall goal to establish, implement and document the company's quality management systems. Contact Industries has implemented 100 percent of the requirements.
