Association of Closet & Storage Professionals has announced details and pricing of a new three-level certification program for professional home storage systems designers.

ACSP board member Paul Donohue, who owns Ridgewood Closets of Saddle Brook, NJ, says the certification program is designed to improve the stature of closet professionals.  "Wal Mart has customers," Donohue said.  "Professionals have clients,"

The ASCP certification program offers three successive levels of certification status for professional closet designers:
  • Registered Storage Designer
  • Certified Storage Designer, and
  • Master Storage Designer.
The certification process requires portfolio submission, testing, recommendations, and a minimum two years professional experience, followed by three years and then ten years to attain the highest level, Master Storage Designer. Pricing for each level of certification is $275 for ASCP members; $400 for non-members.

The certification program was announced during Closets Expo 2011 in Charlotte, NC. The closet professional certification program is described at the ACSP website. It will also be the subject of an April 20 webcast presented by ACSP, CLOSETS magazine and Woodworking Network.com
