Clean up continues at ex-plywood factory site in WA
OLYMPIA, WA -- A massive clean up operation is occuring at the site of the former Hardel Mutual Plywood site. The plant shut down nearly 15 years ago due to a "severe fire," according to The News Tribune.

According to the paper, crews are cleaning an estimated 15,000 cubic yards of soil tainted with oil, diesel and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The contaminants reportedly will be removed and shipped to an approved Weyerhaeuser Co. landfill in Longview.

The cleanup is expected to be completed this fall.
