CHICAGO -- Arrow Lumber Co. has been permanently barred from doing business with Chicago following a Dec. 6 Chicago Tribune report that its owner Donald Beal had admitted in 2007 to taking part in a scheme to defraud taxpayers.

KAR-DON Inc., aka Arrow Lumber, has been added to the city's blacklist. The notice states that Arrow Lumber had "submitted fraudulent invoices to the city and delivered materials in amounts smaller than the invoiced amounts."

The materials reportedly included kitchen cabinets, countertops, American flags and carpentry supplies.

In related news, following the Tribune report, Urban Partnership Bank withdrew its application to appoint Beal to its board of directors.
