MADRAS, OR -- Bright Wood Corp., a secondary lumber remanufacturer of window and door components, casings and other millwork products, laid off about 140 workers at its Madras and Redmond, OR, plants Feb. 8, according to The layoffs were the first in the company's 47-year history and represent about 10% of the company's 1,450-person workforce in central Oregon, which ranked them as the third-largest private employer in the region last year.
