FORT WORTH, TX – Bombay Co. will close all 384 U.S. furniture and home accessories stores, in accordance with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan approved by a Federal Court.
According to CoStar Group, a joint venture between Gordon Brothers Retail Partners and Hilco Merchant Resources recently purchased Bombay’s business operations at an auction. The partners said they plan to begin store closing sales immediately.
The action does not impact Bombay’s Canadian stores.
Bombay was a prominent member of the Furniture Retailers of America, a group that fought against the furniture antidumping petition that resulted in duties being imposed against Chinese wooden bedroom furniture.
