Boat Builder Faces More Than $260,000 in EPA Fines

BOSTON, MA – Pearson Companies LLC of Warren, RI, has been cited by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for fines totaling up to $265, 349 for alleged violations of the federal Clean Air Act.

Pearson manufactures fiberglass sail boats and power boats. The company also makes wood furnishings and upholstery items for the boats.

The EPA says Pearson’s finishing processes “release significant quantities of hazardous air pollutants, primarily styrene.”
