BIFMA level program earns ASID Innovation Award
Furniture sustainability standard approved by ANSI
GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) International was awarded the 2011 ASID Innovation Award by the American Society of Interior Designers for its level sustainability certification program.

Based on the ANSI/BIFMA e3 standard, level (levelcertified.org) is a third-party verification program that provides manufacturers with resources for evaluating and communicating the environmental and social impacts of their furniture products, company and processes. Under the level program, products and processes are evaluated based on criteria including: materials, use of energy, atmospheric impacts, human & ecosystem health, and social responsibility.

BIFMA Executive Director Tom Reardon said, "We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. There are nearly 1,000 products that have been level certified to date and the program is transforming our industry."

BIFMA will formally be recognized with its award at the ASID Award Ceremony, June 13 during NeoCon at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

BIFMA's level program is the subject of a webinar that is available on demand on WoodworkingNetwork.com. Click here to learn more about Go Green with level Certification.
