- Canadian furniture manufacturer Bermex has reportedly purchased a 95,000-square-foot factory building in High Point, NC.

Bermex, a 575-employee unit of BDM+ Furniture Inc. paid $2.4 million for a 1910 three-story plant, buying it out of foreclosure from the Bank of North Carolina for $2.4 million, according to The Business Journal in High Point.

Privately-held Bermex, which produces bar stools, bar furnishings and residential dining sets at 11 factories in Canada, intends to use the facility as a showroom, according to the High Point Enterprise newspaper.

Working in solid North American Birch, Bermex operates integrated production of over 400 bar stool models as well as dining tables, controlling everything from the raw wood to the finishing of the furniture. It offers 114 different finishes, including an exclusive Bermex catalyzed Bermaguard varnish engineered for it by Valspar USA.
