Bayside Furnishings Recalls Youth Bed Toy Chests

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Bayside Furnishings (a division of Whalen) of San Diego, CA, have announced a voluntary recall of approximately 9,300 LaJolla Boat bed and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle beds.

The recall was due to risks associated with the lid supports on the toy chest failing to prevent the lid from closing too quickly, posing an entrapment and strangulation hazard to young children. These units were sold at Costco and furniture stores nationwide, as well as Costco.com from Jan. 2006 through May 2008. Consumers should immediately stop children from using the recalled chests and contact the firm at www.baysidefurnishings.com for instructions on receiving a free repair kit with replacement lid supports.
