MORGANTON, NC - Baker Furniture cut administrative and production workers at its Hildebran plant, according to the Morganton News-Herald. The paper said Baker cited the weak economy and a slowdown in orders as reasons for its decision.

In July 2007, Baker, a division of Kohler Interiors, transferred the operations of its two plants in Mocksville to a newer manufacturing plant in Hildebran, partly to reduce costs.
