AWI To Create Woodworking Skill Standards

POTOMAC FALLS, VA – The Architectural Woodwork Institute  has volunteered and been selected as the secretariat for an industry-wide alliance devoted to developing and setting skill standards for woodworkers.

Volunteers are writing the unified North American Standard of Tool Skills & Evaluations from all parts of the advanced wood processing industry. AWI’s goal is to have a sample book to present to the industry at IWF 2008.

A Wiki page has been set up, and five writing teams are working on 15 to 18 tools for the book. AWI is seeking additional authors and writing teams. To see how the standards are progressing, visit http://skillstandards.wikispaces.com

Parties interested in volunteering for the project should contact Greg Heuer at [email protected] for more information.
