ATC Panels Adding New Laminate Flooring Facility

MONCURE, NC – ATC Panels, which manufacturers and sells particleboard, low density fiberboard, medium density fiberboard, high density fiberboard and more, in association with its joint venture partner Tarkett Inc., recently began construction on a new $50 million, state-of-the-art laminate flooring facility located next to the existing HDF plant in Clarion, PA. The 300,000-square-foot facility will feature two production lines with a capacity of 240 million square feet. It is expected to be operational in August 2007.

“Laminate flooring is a key focus for us as it is one of the fastest growing flooring categories in the United States,” said Juan Obach, chairman of ATC Panels. “This addition to our Clarion facility is yet another example of our commitment to the North American market.”

Currently, the Clarion boards facility, also a joint venture with Tarkett, utilizes a 10 foot wide continuous press to produce MDF and HDF, employs 90 and has an annual capacity of 140,000 MCF. Approximately 80 jobs will be created by the addition.
