HUDSON, MA —

Office systems manufacturer AIS has reached an agreement to acquire Ontario-based CAF Contract Seating.

According to published reports, the deal is expected to be finalized, and implemented, within the next few months.

Founded in 1990, AIS employs more than 300 people and has three locations, totaling more than 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The company says it plans to move manufacturing of the CAF seating lines to Massachusetts and will begin taking orders in September.

CAF was founded in 1990. Its ergonomic seating products are sold throughout North America and in several overseas markets.

“AIS is very excited about this acquisition,” said AIS CEO/President Bruce Platzman, in an OfficeNewsWire release. “We pride ourselves on simplifying the furniture buying process for our dealers and end-users. Offering a broad line of seating options that meet individual needs allows our end-users to purchase their workstations, ergonomic accessories and seating from one manufacturer.”

AIS was founded in 1990 as Affordable Interior Systems, a remanufacturer of office workstations.
In 1996 AIS moved into production of its own brand of workstations, rebranded as AIS in 2005 and reaching $100 million in sales by 2007. AIS is exhibiting this week at NeoCon, Showroom #10082.
