PHILADELPHIA, PA -World Imports Ltd. has issued a voluntary recall of about 8,600 wood bunk beds that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC)  said violates bunk safety standards.

World Imports Recalls Bunk Beds Due to Strangulation HazardThe CPSC said the openings between the metal rails of the end structures are greater than allowed in the standard and pose a risk of entrapment or asphyxiation hazard. No injuries have been reported.

The twin bunk beds feature wooden corner posts with wrought iron end structures on the headboards and footboards. They were made by Zhangzhou Sanchuan Steel Pipe Goods Co. Ltd. of China.

The beds sold for between $250 and $300 at independent juvenile and other furniture stores in the eastern United States. Consumers are urged to contact World Imports for a free repair kit and instructions.
