Northeast U.S. wood industry recovery - one example this week is Menck's $20 million window plant planned for Vermont - is also getting a boost through billions of dollars in Federal hurricane recovery aid.

Signs of investment are springing up in reports from around the country that were highly viewed this week: Pennsylvania's Allen Organ added automated sanding equipment; Stolo Cabinets parlayed a state grant to fund lean production consultation into $800,000 jump in sales and new hiring.

Amid all this, a relaunched show for cabinet and custom wood interiors is arriving on the scene next month,  just as woodworkers in every sector resurface from the recession. 

Next month's Cabinets & Closets Expo 2013 is getting a bigger buzz than expected. Anyone visiting the show's site could see it has gained steam: between December and today the exhibitor list jumped from 32 to 57. It's tracking well ahead of last year, and sponsors now include  Osborne Wood Products, Drawer Connection, Hafele - with more to come.
