Two California wood products firms announced layoffs through the state's WARN notice site.

California Redwood Company, Arcata, CA announced layoffs late last month, with 175 employees  let go after Thanksgiving. Sierra Pine, Roseville, CA, will let go 48 people Dec. 16 in Rocklin.

Both firms reported the layoffs through California's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification site. It requires employers to give affected employees at least 60 days written advance notice of any plant closing or mass layoff.
